New Industry Trend of Integration of Culture and Tourism
In recent years, the concept of “culture is the soul of tourism and tourism is the carrier of culture” has become increasingly prevailing. The integration of culture and tourism has become the mainstream. Especially under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the public focus moved back to the human-nature relationship. In such a context, the organic fusion and coordinated development of culture and tourism will be a new industry trend.

On 12 April 2022, the BIT 2022, Italy’s leading tourism exhibition organized by Fiera Milano S.p.A. concluded with complete success: three days of intense networking and new product presentations, characterised by the quality of exhibitors’ proposals and highly profiled buyers. Trends towards an increasingly natural, sustainable and responsible tourism, also focused on history and culture, are confirmed both in Italy and abroad. International tourism saw a growing interest in nature and quality of life. The trend unveiled at the BIT 2022 is of great significance to the cultural tourism community.

A New Cultural Tourism Pattern Formed in Southwest China
The Chengdu International Culture and Tourism Exhibition is based in the “Land of Abundance”-- Chengdu, Sichuan. Located at the intersection of the Belt and Road, Sichuan boasts a vast market and occupies a pivotal position in Southwest China. Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan Province, and as one of the national central cities and one of the main cities of Sichuan, it saw a great leap in comprehensive strength in the past 5 years and has become a megacity, rising to the 86th place in Global Comprehensive City Rankings.

In recent years, the share of consumption in cultural tourism has constantly grown in the total retail sales of social consumer goods in Chengdu. The cultural, sports, and entertainment industry presented promising prospects, playing a key role in the growing momentum in cultural tourism development. As the core city of the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor and the core zone of provincial cultural tourism economic development, Chengdu shall muster efforts to improve its international competitiveness and enhance its function as the engine of regional development by expanding the influence of Bashu culture, driving the coordinated regional development, strengthening cultural tourism industry, scaling quality product supply and cementing support for cultural tourism. With high-quality development of cultural tourism, Chengdu will further the aim of being a city of culture with global influence.

Situated in Sichuan with a time-honored history and culture, the Chengdu International Culture and Tourism Exhibition will create more opportunities for exchange as inspired by the unique culture and history of Chengdu.
